The specialist is responsible for preparing, filing, and managing medical stop-loss claims to secure reimbursement from insurance carriers. This detail-oriented work includes compiling comprehensive claim reports and all necessary documentation to support the filings. A key part of the job is diligent follow-up with various carriers to ensure that reimbursements are received in a timely and complete manner. The specialist will also handle the appeals process for any denied or reduced claim reimbursements, which requires strong analytical and communication skills. This role involves close collaboration with other internal departments to resolve any claim-related issues that may arise. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient with office software, particularly spreadsheet applications, and possess the ability to learn new computer systems with ease. While a bachelor’s degree is preferred, relevant experience, especially in medical claims or accounting, is highly valued. Strong organizational skills, dependability, and the ability to work independently are essential for success in this role, ensuring the financial integrity of client health plans.
