The Benefit Verification Specialist will play a crucial role in enabling patient access to life-changing therapies. This individual will be responsible for engaging directly with healthcare professionals to determine options for financial assistance and reimbursement by navigating complex benefits programs and a complicated payer landscape across the United States. A primary responsibility will be to initiate benefits verification by reviewing patient data and insurance materials, identifying any missing information, and following up with points of contact to resolve information gaps. The specialist will verify benefits for each assigned patient case, detailing all requirements for reimbursement, including copays, coinsurance, utilization management requirements, qualifications, restrictions, and prior authorization requirements. Where applicable, this person will initiate subsequent actions, such as prior authorizations, appeals, travel, and appointments. The role also involves monitoring potential delays or pended cases and identifying and documenting lessons learned and potential leading practices that could result in shorter processing times or higher success rates. The ideal candidate will have a self-starting demeanor, a desire to problem-solve, and a high level of attention to detail to ensure data integrity when interacting with supporting systems.
